Paper Scissors Frock

The freshers at the Atrium in Cardiff held a fabulous fashion event 'Paper Scissors Frock' last week and I was happy to be asked to attend. Having graduated from The University of Glamorgan myself I was excited to be invited to see work from the students. They really went the extra mile this year with V.I.P front row seating and a goody bag included. With these added extras it felt a lot more like a real industry event, which was great to see from students making their first steps in their degrees.

I remember being in the same position, exciting first day at uni and being handed a brief....to host a fashion show by the end of the week. Ahhhh!

Students from all courses played a part and made the freshers week project “Paper Scissors Frock” a successful fashion event. Photography students took the pictures, there was live music from students studying music and interior design students created beautiful structures that set the scene. The lighting created a fantastic atmosphere and the event was also streamed live to allow people to watch the event live from the comfort of their own home.

The standard of the work was extremely high and if that's what they have after 5 days then by the end of their course I can't even imagine what creations we will see coming out of that class. From all of the dresses I liked the few that took their brief and didn't do the obvious thing that comes to mind when you're asked to make a paper dress. My two favourites from the night was a little weaved number, which must have been very time consuming to create, and also the dress that used the paper to create a print. This one stood out most as I think it's was the only dress that wasn't white, black or grey. Overall a massive success and I can only look forward to the up and coming events from these guys.
